Our club was well-represented at the Hunt Test last weekend in Yoder, Kansas.  The test was a double/double (2 tests per day) so a good chance to put some “legs” on your dog.  From left to right:

Michele McDonald and Cutter with 3 MH legs

Rob McDonald and Spinner finishing his MH with a leg to spare

Jean Villa and Bree finishing her MH with 2 legs to spare

Theresa Milan and Riley with 3 JH legs

I’ve been getting emails wondering if we slipped off the face of the earth so here it is.....Trapper did a pretty good job at the AKC retriever hunt test in Bryan-College Station Sunday!   Here is a slightly off-center picture of his 2nd SH leg.  We were pretty tired by then.  I feel like we’re becoming a pretty good team.  Interesting how long it takes to establish that connection and trust.  So we’re done until March.  I won’t sign up for any tests Dec.-Feb.  Too iffy on weather and I’m not big on sending him in icy water (although duck hunting is different!).  3 to go!

Joy and Val ran in agility in November after a 4 month rest, and Joy proved she has "gotten it", qualifying 3 out of 4 runs to finish her agility excellent jumpers title.

She is now:CH Moonshadow's Xaltation, JH, AX, AXJ, OF, NRD, VX  - bred and owned by Valerie Fare. Our next plan is for puppies in 2014, then on to obedience.

Just thought you might like to know......my teammate and I just managed to reach our latest goal!  Trapper did a super job the last two weekends in UKC Hunting Retriever Tests.  Now on to the next challenge of Finished and AKC Senior. I feel pretty good that we can do it!  Thanks for listening to our brag! Guess it’s pretty exciting since this is the first time I’ve gone to this level with a pup.  Couldn’t have done it without all the help my friends have offered.  Thank you so much!

(Carl and Daisy also got 2 Started Legs....YAY!)

Our pointing dog hunt tests are finally kicking into high gear since we’re sort of past the 100-degree days.  Instead we had some pretty cold weather for TX the past two test weekends.  You can tell by this picture I was stiff as a board freezing!  Cutter was able to finish his Junior Hunter and get 2 extra legs for good measure this past weekend.  Good scores and nicely run tests by two different clubs.  May be awhile before we try for Senior but hoping to get some experience for spring tests.  We’ll see...............................
